ELi Obtains National Grant: Double Your Support Right Now!

For the second year in a row, ELi has been awarded access to NewsMatch, a national matching campaign to support nonprofit journalism across the United States! Starting today through the end of 2019, NewsMatch plus a group of core local ELi supporters will be doubling donations given to ELi, making it much more likely we will achieve financial sustainability for 2020 by the end of this year!

Right now, every dollar you donate will be doubled. You can donate in a lump sum and see that money doubled, or, if you want to sign up to be a monthly donor to ELi, we will receive a match equal to your total annual contribution.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 before the New Year. We believe this is doable, but we need your help to ensure that we can max-out this opportunity and keep ELi going throughout 2020! Just click here to help right now!

What donations can be matched?

There are two kinds of donations that can be matched:

1. One-time donation: Our matching donors will give us a dollar-for-dollar match for any individual donation by an individual person or business, up to $1,000 per individual. So, $50 becomes $100, and a $1,000 donation becomes $2,000.
2. Monthly commitment: For every person who signs up as a new monthly donor, NewsMatch will match that person’s annual commitment. So, if we sign up a new monthly donor at $5/month, NewsMatch will give us $60. For a new commitment of $20/month, NewsMatch will give us $240.

What if you are already signed up as a monthly donor to ELi?

Whatever your existing monthly pledge generates in November and December, NewsMatch will double! So, if you’re already signed up to be a $25/month donor, NewsMatch will give us $50 without you taking any further action.

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes! ELi is an IRS- recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, incorporated in the State of Michigan. Your donations are therefore tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

We will get you a receipt for your 2019 donations in January.
