All of Us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT) presents “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” this coming weekend and next.

This classic story by C. S. Lewis is, according to the East Lansing Recreation & Arts website, “set in the land of Narnia,” and “faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia.”

“This story is full of adventure, heart, bravery, loyalty, and faith,” said AECT Artistic Director Sarah Willis. “We’ve all faced tasks that seem impossible – and victory is feasible with great optimism and a steadfast team by your side. The Narnia series teaches audiences of all ages that anything is possible!”

Seventy area youth, ages 8-15, make up the cast of the crew of this latest AECT production.

The show is being directed by Morgan Lees. Both Lees and Willis, are alumnus of the theater which is currently celebrating its’ 27th season. Lees began her involvement with AECT in 1996 when “she was cast as an oyster in Alice in Wonderland.” She went on to act in 21 other shows. This is the sixth show she has directed. According to her AECT bio, Lees “enjoys working with the cast to help them learn, grow, bring out their natural talent, and produce the best show they can!” In addition to directing, Lees also serves as the current president of the AECT Board of Trustees and is a professional illustrator.

AECT brings four major productions to the Greater Lansing community each year with the help of hundreds of youth from throughout the region.
