Local entrepreneurs are invited to network with each other, and enjoy a free cup of coffee at Blue Owl Coffee in East Lansing (213 Ann Street, Suite C) from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20. The Lansingpreneur event is designed to connect entrepreneurs with the surrounding community and city.

Justin Jackson, 22, an East Lansing Trojan alumnus and Michigan State Spartan alumnus, runs the Lansingpreneur podcast alongside co-founder Andrez Chuney.

“Lansing is a community with its own unique story full of entrepreneurs who are equally unique,” Jackson said. “Our goal is to tell their stories to the world as well as our community.”

As for next Thursday’s event, Jackson said the goal is to give passionate entrepreneurs a chance to connect.

“My partner on this project, Andrez Chuney, has been one of the most influential people on my entrepreneurial journey,” he said. “If it weren’t for networking opportunities like this, I would have never made the connections and built the relationships I have today.”

The location itself also provides a great example of what the event is all about.

“Blue Owl is a company that represents what is great about this community, as well as everything this community can be,” Jackson said. “Also, Blue Owl sets the bar when it comes to coffee. Their Americano is objectively the best cup of coffee in the world.”

For Jackson, East Lansing has been a great place to grow up, and integral in developing his own entrepreneurial mind-set.

“I would say I had the quintessential East Lansing childhood going to ballgames on Fridays and the mandatory trips to Tasty Twist following … I wouldn’t trade my upbringing in East Lansing for anything,” Jackson said. “I owe a lot to Stephen Schiestel, the Program Director of the Financial Planning and Wealth Management Program at Eli Broad. He is an excellent professor, as well as an entrepreneur himself, as he is the co-founder of a firm, and the pioneer behind the program at MSU.”

The coffee and networking event is open to all entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and anyone who would enjoy a free cup of Blue Owl coffee or tea. Jackson looks forward to meeting all attendees, and discussing their place within East Lansing’s creative, driven community.
