East Lansing Info (ELi), East Lansing’s non-profit news cooperative, will be hosting an informational meeting for community members this Tuesday evening. Those interested in acting as citizen-reporters for or just interested in knowing more about ELi, should attend on Tuesday, September 30, 6:30-7:30 pm at the East Lansing Public Library conference room.
Alice Dreger, ELi’s founder, president, and publisher, and Dudley (Smitty) Smith, ELi’s Managing Editor, as well as other editors and writers, will discuss why ELi exists, as well as the operational objectives the organization embraces. ELi provides free, local, non-partisan, accurate news and information about East Lansing, including reports on local public schools, clubs, businesses, economic and governmental activities, arts events, and so forth. Attendees can learn how these objectives are achieved and what it takes to be a paid or volunteer writer, photographer, or editor for ELi.
When asked about ELi, Dreger said “We’ve had great success recruiting reporters among people we know, but now we want to open up our invitation to everyone in East Lansing. We also would love if people came just to learn more about ELi and our mission of producing news of, by, and for the people of East Lansing.”
The informational session is open to all. See the Facebook Event.
