The Fred Knapp Trio, a Michigan-based “swinging instrumental jazz trio putting their unique spin on classic standards” will play tonight, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Moriarty’s Pub in Lansing. The performance is part of Moriarty’s Jazz Tuesday at Moriarty’s, and celebrates the Trio’s new CD How Deep Is the Ocean. The music starts at 7:00 pm, and there is no cover.
The Fred Knapp Trio consists of Fred Knapp on drums, Jeremy Siskind on piano, and David Rosin on Bass. If the last name sounds familiar, it’s because David Rosin is the orchestra teacher for grades seven through twelve in the East Lansing school district. This CD is the sixth for Fred and David, and the first with Jeremy on piano.
Tonight marks the third release party for the group. The first was in Grand Rapids, which is Fred’s home turf. The next party was in Jeremy’s hometown of Kalamazoo, and tonight’s Lansing show is near the home base of East Lansing’s own David Rosin. The Trio will play pieces from the new CD during the first set, and the second and third sets will be jam sessions in which the Trio will be joined by local musicians and friends.
“We are looking forward to coming to Lansing. We have so many good friends in the area, not to mention the amazing musicians we’ve worked with in the past who we hope will join us in the jam session,” said Knapp.
The latest album is available for purchase on standard music sites and hard copies will be available the night of the show for $15 apiece. For more information on the Trio please visit them on Facebook and Twitter.
