Financial supporters of East Lansing Info (ELi) have now secured over $80,000 in donations and monthly pledges for ELi for 2019, ensuring that East Lansing will have steady local reporting throughout the coming year.
The year-end campaign goal of $80,000 was reached shortly before midnight on December 31, the deadline for pledges to be matched through NewsMatch and our local core donors. ELi’s local core donors pledged $15,000 on top of the $25,000 match from NewsMatch, making it possible for us to reach the $80,000 goal.
The ELi team will be doing the final math in the coming days, after we receive the last batch of checks coming via postal mail. All donors will receive acknowledgements of their full-year 2018 contributions later this month. (ELi is a recognized 501c3 nonprofit charity, so donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.)
The ELi team wishes to thank the hundreds of donors who so generously provided support through this campaign. We also want to specifically thank Jason Alcorn and Christina Shih for NewsMatch coaching, and Sue Cross, Executive Director of the Institute for Nonprofit News, for all the guidance provided by INN to ELi and our sister public service news organizations.
This is a developing story. We’ll have more information and even more gratitude after a long winter’s nap.
Happy New Year, East Lansing. We look forward to bringing you the news!
