We are delighted to announce that LightSpeed, locally-founded and locally-operated provider of high-speed fiber optic internet service, has become a corporate sponsor of ELi! You’ll shortly be seeing a “block” recognizing this sponsorship in the upper-right margin of our website.
This sponsorship has been arranged by ELi’s Board Treasurer Travis Stoliker with LightSpeed founder Jason Schreiber and provides us support for the second-half of this month. LightSpeed has committed to extending its sponsorship through the spring if ELi’s supporters get us to our sustainability goal by January 31. (All the more reason for you to consider helping us now to reach our sustainability goal!)
ELi’s Managing Editor Ann Nichols and I were both particularly pleased to have LightSpeed step up as a corporate sponsor as we both have LightSpeed service at our homes, from which we work for ELi. The synergy feels so right!
As I let you know recently in our financial update, the ELi board decided to seek corporate sponsorships as a means to helping ELi reach financial sustainability. As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, ELi cannot take conventional advertising, but our IRS status does permit us to obtain corporate sponsorships. Regular readers will know that this new corporate sponsorship from LightSpeed comes on the heels of our inaugural corporate sponsorship from Mackerel Sky.
With the help of our tech managers Lisa Lees and Morgan Lees, we have created a way to display a notice about our corporate sponsorships along the right side of our homepage. We hope that if you decide to do business with any of our corporate sponsors, you’ll let them know you appreciate them supporting this local news public service.
If you know of another business that meets our criteria – namely that they are unlikely to present significant conflicts of interest for our public service local news reporting mission – please let us know. These might include, for example, retail stores, realtors, insurance companies, and the like.
In the meantime, again, we hope you will personally consider helping us reach our goal for sustainability so that we can continue our service to you in 2017. Almost 400 of your neighbors have now become donors to ELi, with 124 of those stepping up to provide steady monthly support. Read more.
