Why should you support ELi right now? Your generosity today can turn into major bonus support for us in 2020 as we endeavor to continue bringing you nonpartisan, comprehensive, and factually-based East Lansing news!
We are getting closer to reaching two breakthrough bonus goals for our NewsMatch period!
First, If we can obtain donations of any amount from 100 new donors from November 1 to December 31, we will receive a bonus from Newsmatch. We only need 46 more new ELi donors as of today!
Second, if we obtain support from more donors this year than last, NewsMatch will award us with substantial bonus funds. We had 470 donors in 2018, and have had 333 so far in 2019. Both new donors and returning donors count towards this goal.
How much we can earn in bonuses will depend on how much funding NewsMatch has at the end of the match cycle, but regardless of amount, these bonuses will be of help to us as we continue our thorough and versatile coverage in 2020. Last year, we obtained $5,000 in bonus funding for reaching both bonus goals!
Why help? Every week, we report on stories that affect our city’s residents and businesses.
Just this past week we broke the story on the reason behind incomplete construction at the new Glencairn and Donley schools, covered the Zoning Board of Appeals’ rejection of a marijuana business on Grand River Avenue, reported the Public Works Director recommending a new $3.5M sewer project, told you about changes to historic district regulations with regard to solar panels, brought you a look at Mayor Ruth Beier’s pivot in mayoral style, explained the Planning Commission’s reason for rejecting the new Hub proposal, and more.
We would not be able to provide this resource without you – our readers and supporters.
If you have never donated, please donate now!
If you have already donated, you can help us obtain new donors through our special bundle-match program. Read more about that here.
