A suspect in last week’s downtown shoot-out has been arraigned and bond has been set at $500,000. That suspect has been identified by ELPD as Jarvis Lamar Mack, a 28-year-old Lansing resident, shown below in a photo from ELPD.

East Lansing Deputy Police Chief Steve Gonzalez tells ELi that Mack has been charged with five crimes, including assault with intent to murder. That is a charge rarely seen in activity reports from ELPD.

The other charges include discharging a firearm at a building, carrying concealed weapons, possession of a weapon by a felon, and a felony firearms charge.

ELI reported on Saturday that gunfire had been exchanged overnight at the Lounge Six hookah parlor, at the corner of Charles Street and Albert Avenue. ELPD Chief Larry Sparkes told ELi that an individual had been asked to leave and came back in a car and started shooting. A security guard at the lounge returned fire with his gun.

The situation set off multiple alerts around East Lansing as police sought the suspect, bringing in Mack on Saturday about midday. He remains in custody at this time.
