Frida the display sheep, from Woven Art, has been returned to her wooly paddock by an MSU student, who said she was found somewhere between Abbot Road and MAC Avenue.
As we previously reported, she was stolen during an MSU football game on Sept. 29. During the time Frida was missing there were rumors of sightings on social media, and one Woven Art customer had buttons made with the “#findfrida” hashtag.
According to Meg Croft, owner of Woven Art, Frida is still looking presentable.
“Frida is in good condition- perhaps a little dirty from her adventures,” Croft said in an email. “But she is cleaner than I thought she might have been given she was missing for two weeks.”
As to whether Frida will be on display again, Croft explained that the shop will consider the other events going on into account and how that will affect their furry friend.
“We will display her outside again, but not during football season, and definitely not on St. Patrick Day,” Croft explained. She added, “It may be during the months of June and July that she will get some outside time.”
In preventing an event like this from occurring again, Croft said that they may decide to use a GPS to keep track of Frida, or no longer display her.
According to Croft, Frida gives lots of joy to employees, customers and folks walking by, and they are happy to have her back.
“It is really wonderful to have her back! She is such a favorite among customers and their children,” Croft said. “Everyone who walks by her smiles.”
After Frida was returned to Woven Art, shop regular, Alexis Ann Wright, wrote a poem detailing the possible story of Frida’s travels:
THE MSU ADVENTURES OF FRIDA THE SHEEP
It was a fine, temperate, autumn day,
And Frida was dreaming of freshly-baled hay.
At peace in her vision, she got in the way
Of a stumbling frat boy, who yelped in dismay.
"Who put this goat on the sidewalk?!" he said,
"If I'd had one more brewski, I might have been dead!
I guess all those keg stands have gone to my head,
I've gotta show this goat to my frat brother Fred!"
The frat boy tucked Frida secure 'neath one arm,
He didn't think he could be doing much harm.
No well-meaning knitters could sound the alarm,
And Frida wasn't heading to ANY nice farm.
"Dude that goat's dope!" Fred said to his bro,
"We're taking her to tonight's kegger, fo' sho'!
Maybe then Crunchy's, and the Green Do',
Then I'm jumping into my bed with a... pillow."
Frida, accustomed to getting nice hugs,
Instead was subjected to "chug, ****, chug!"
They drank from wine glasses, beer steins and mugs,
And did bodyshots off a freshman named Doug.
That night Frida heard many censors and bleeps,
It was a great deal for a poor little sheep.
Into Fred's room she took a little bo-peep,
And after that poor Frida was unable to sleep.
The following morning, enjoying warm oats,
The frat boy checked Facebook and got a lump in his throat.
"A yarn shop is missing a sheep," read the quote,
"It's a wicked good thing that I just stole a GOAT!"
Frida was lost and continued to roam
A parade of red plastic and styrofoam.
Her Solo cup story overfloweth with foam,
Because happily, Frida the sheep made it home.
