Touch a Truck on Tuesday Evening

Kids and adults alike can get a look at East Lansing’s fleet of emergency response and public works vehicles at the City’s annual Touch a Truck event on Tuesday night from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the East Lansing Public Library.

Part of National Night Out, a program that aims to bring communities closer together, the City has partnered with East Lansing Public Library to host the event, showcasing the City’s array of big and interesting vehicles.

The underlying point of the event is that community members and those who serve them can come together. The idea is that people will interact with firefighters, police officers, EMTs and other first responders, bringing the community together and hopefully making it safer.

The vehicles set to be featured include ELPD and ELFD vehicles like a police cruiser, fire truck, and ambulance. There will also be trucks from East Lansing’s Department of Public works, a CATA bus, a tow truck and an American Red Cross emergency response vehicle. ELPD also plans to have K9 units there to visit with attendees.

Beyond the vehicles, the event will have other kid-friendly options, including a bounce house, face painting, and other fun activities.

The ELPL parking lot will close at 5 p.m. to begin prepping for the event. Parking is available on side streets and at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center.
