As we reported previously, a 22-year-old MSU student was shot and killed early Friday morning at an apartment complex on Abbot Road near where it becomes Chandler Road. This morning, East Lansing Police released the name of the victim. He was Isai Berrones from Alamo, Texas.

On the morning of Friday, October 12, officers responded at approximately 2:44 a.m. to a report of shots fired and people fighting at the 25 East apartment complex, located at 2501 Abbot Road. When they reached the scene, they found Berrones with a gunshot wound, and he was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased.

ELPD Information Officer Chad Connelly told ELi last week that there is no immediate danger to the public because the shooting stemmed from an interpersonal conflict. This morning’s press release reiterates that there is “no immediate danger to the public” and that the incident remains under investigation.
