Now that we’re in our fourth fiscal year, we’ve learned some useful things at ELi about how to maximize our public service. One is that, when we ask readers after a contentious local election why they voted as they did, and we share those results, readers tell us they wish they’d known their neighbors’ reasoning before they voted, because it might have influenced them.
So now is your chance to share the reasoning behind your voting. If you’re an occasional or frequent ELi reader, and you’re registered to vote in East Lansing on November 7, we want to hear how you’re planning to vote on the two East Lansing tax proposals and how you are planning to vote in the City Council election. If you’ve already voted absentee, you can tell us how you voted and why.
Here’s the link to the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ELiVote2017
As you’ll see if you take the survey, the questions about these elections are open-ended, so if you’re not sure yet how you’re voting, you’re welcome to say that and to give us a sense of what’s on your mind.
The questions about the ballot choices are followed by a quick survey that asks you to indicate with a simple check-box answering system whether you know about various aspects of ELi. Those questions are designed to help us understand what our readers know and don’t know about how we operate, so that we can do a better job.
The survey is anonymous and should take you about 5-10 minutes, tops. We’ll keep it open through Monday, October 30, at midnight. Then we’ll share answers in an article that gives you a run-down of how your neighbors are thinking about the ballot choices. Thanks for helping us provide our nonpartisan service to East Lansing!
