A resident in the Timberlake Apartments complex stopped a group of three armed intruders at about 3 a.m. today by firing a gun. Police were called but no suspects were apprehended.

The Timberlake Apartment complex is on Coolidge Road just south of Lansing Ophthalmology. The incident occured in an apartment near East Shore Drive. (See map.)

According to East Lansing Police Sergeant Chad Pride, three men entered an apartment early this morning, and a resident of the apartment “did fire a shot towards the direction of the subjects. No one was struck that we know of.” The apartment resident was not injured.

Police were called at about 3 a.m. and used a police dog to try to track the intruders. This was unsuccessful. There is no information about any possible vehicle used by the subjects. They were described in the Nixle emergency bulletin as a black man wearing a grey hoody and having a hand gun, a possible white man wearing a dark hoody, and a third man “unknown…other than he had on a dark hoody.” Sergeant Pride told me there is no further information available on the suspects.
