The East Lansing Police Department confirms that a shooting was reported at approximately 6:40pm yesterday in the 1200 block of Stonegate Lane in the Whitehills neighborhood. The victim was shot in the leg, and was transported to a local hospital; the wound is not thought to be life-threatening.

The suspect was in custody "within minutes," and a public safety message indicated that there was “no remaining danger to the public.” ELPD tells us that the victim was a 21-year-old man and the suspect a 55-year-old East Lansing man. The men lived in the same household, but were not related, and the shooting is being treated as intentional.

ELi will update this story as it develops.
