ELi Is Halfway to Sustainability for 2019 as Deadline Approaches

With help from the General Assembly of ASMSU, East Lansing Info has reached the halfway mark of its sustainability goal for 2019! We have now raised $40,476 (including matching dollars) towards our goal of $80,000.

Here's what ASMSU said in their resolution to help ELi, knowing their contribution would be doubled by NewsMatch:

• Local news organizations are vital to the strength of local democracies, but many are struggling to keep afloat.
• East Lansing Info has been a great aid to the governmental affairs office as a consistent and dependable news organization.  
• East Lansing lacks other consistent and independent reporting.
• East Lansing Info supports the careers of student journalists by providing introductory and community-driven freelance positions. 
• East Lansing Info is currently receiving a match of any donations by donors until the end of the year.

That's right: now through December 31, we are benefitting from NewsMatch, a national matching grant campaign for nonprofit news organizations accepted to the program. NewsMatch is making a huge difference for us this year.

As a reminder, every individual donation up to $1,000 will be doubled during NewsMatch! And our local match from a core group of donors means that we can double anything above that threshhold, too!
