With 4 Days Left, ELi Reaches 91% of Financial Goal for 2019

East Lansing Info (ELi) has now raised about 91% of its year-end fundraising campaign goal of $80,000!

With just four days left in our fundraising campaign and with the matching funds we have committed, we need just over $8,000 in additional donor funds to reach the finish line. (Want to help right now? Click here!)

If we can reach that goal of $80,000 by the end of the year, we know we can keep bringing East Lansing the quality and quantity of independent reporting this community has come to want and expect.

ELi is a recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization, so contributions made in 2018 will be tax-deductible for this tax year, to the extent allowed by law.

The remarkable success of this year’s campaign is attributable in part to three major factors:

1. This year, ELi joined the national Institute for Nonprofit News and was accepted to NewsMatch, providing $25,000 in matching funds from national philanthropies including the MacArthur Foundation and the Knight Foundation.
2. Before our campaign even started on November 1, a core group of ELi donors committed $15,000 in additional matching funds to raise our total matchability to $40,000 for this year-end campaign.
3. The ELi reporting team has been widely recognized as doing extraordinary reporting this year, even being recognized with the City of East Lansing's public service award, The Crystal Award.

The amount we have raised so far includes both lump-sum contributions as well as monthly commitments arranged by credit card or auto-pay banking. Lump-sum contributions are being matched dollar-for-dollar. Monthly commitments are being matched at the annual rate – so a monthly commitment of $10/month brings a match of $120, getting us in total $240 closer to the $80,000 goal for 2019.
