With the arrival of the vernal equinox on Wednesday (March 20), the Burcham-Henge phenomenon returns to East Lansing. Given the weather forecast, you might want to try to see it this evening rather than waiting for tomorrow.
What is Burcham-Henge? Twice a year, on the equinoxes, sunrise and sunset align with the portion of Burcham Drive between Abbot Road and Park Lake Road, as shown in the photo above.
Sunrise this week begins around 7:40 a.m. By the end of the week, sunrise will be at 7:35 a.m. Sunset happens right around 7:50 p.m. You should be able to witness Burcham-Henge during these times most of the week, depending on cloud cover.
