"After Ever After" brings Mulan, Belle, Cruella and More to Hannah Community Center This Weekend

This weekend, the East Lansing Dance and Theatre Company (ELDTC) will perform “AFTER EVER AFTER, or Four Beautiful Princesses, a Bunch of Sidekicks and One Evil Villain: A Ballet in One Act” at the Hannah Community Center Albert White Theatre. 

This original show was conceived, directed and choreographed by ELDTC Artistic Director P.K. Van Voorhees, and imagines what happens when a bored villain--Cruella De Vil, played by MSU student Marissa Beatty--gets tired of being in “Ever After” with nothing to do. She seeks out some drama, and Cruella builds a crew of henchmen and seeks out Belle from Beauty and The Beast, Cinderella, Snow White, and Mulan with their bevy of sidekicks. 

“It’s all your favorite characters and extending their stories,” said Katherine Knox, a junior at East Lansing High School, who dances the role of Mulan. Her classmate, Kaleel Van Voorhees, also a student at ELHS, is performing the role of Belle. 

This show is family-friendly. “It’s very child-friendly and funny, and it gives you a laugh,” said Annie McIlhagga, a 6^th-grader at MacDonald Middle School. “We worked very hard to make it a good experience for people who come, and you will walk out smiling!” she added.

 Performances will be at the Hannah Community Center Albert White Theater on Friday, January 22 at 7 PM and Saturday, January 23, at 2 PM. The show lasts approximately one hour, encompasses ballet and physical theatre and is appropriate for all ages.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased ahead of time by calling 517-336-4088 or purchased at the theatre door 30 minutes prior to show time.  Flowers and refreshments will be available for purchase after the show, to support future productions of the Company.
