“On The Margins,” this year's Orchesis Dance annual concert will take place at the Arena Theater located in the MSU Auditorium, from March 31st to April 2nd.
With choreographers such as former “So You Think You Can Dance” star Billy Bell, Chair of Colorado University's Dance Department Erika Randall, and MSU's Professor of Global Diversity in Dance Rosely Conz, "On The Margins" will also feature four pieces created by MSU students.
Currently, around 40 students from different majors are part of Orchesis Dance. Each piece will bring together different perspectives and backgrounds to dance choreography. Whether it's navigating through feelings of exclusion and vulnerability, or just slowly starting to discover little things that can make us feel joy, the audience will definitely identify with “On The Margin’s” unique takes on life.
About the dance company
Orchesis Dance is a modern dance company and the only dance organization on campus that is sponsored by MSU’s Department of Theatre. Each year Orchesis presents a concert in the spring composed of choreographies the company has been working on during the academic year.
"We are sponsored by the Department of Theatre at MSU, so not only some of the pieces were choreographed by students, but we also had colleagues graciously designing lights and costumes. On The Margins will take place in an arena style theater or 'in the round,’ allowing the audience to view the concert from any angle desired", says student Elspeth Muzzin.
