Ten Pound Fiddles Hosts Fiddle Scouts Holiday Singalong for Children with Local Musician Quisenberry

On Saturday, December 9^th at 10:00am the Fiddle Scouts, a subsidiary of the Ten Pound Fiddle Concert and Dance Series, will host a Holiday Singalong at the MSU Community Music School, led by local musician Carrie Quisenberry.

Kids ages three to thirteen are encouraged to attend for “fun with folk music.”

“This is always a lovely gathering,” said Sally Potter, Booking Manager for the Ten Pound Fiddle. “There’s no sign-up or registration. People can bring their kids, drop-in, sing, and enjoy instruments that are easy to play.”

Quisenberry will help lead the singing of everyone’s holiday favorites, and according to Potter, she’s a natural at both singing and interacting with the kids. “Carrie is great and very good at what she does,” Potter said. “She’s wonderful with the kids, a natural for the Fiddle Scouts, and everyone will get a chance to sing all of their favorite carols.”

According to the Ten Pound Fiddle’s website, the Fiddle Scouts is a “fun, family friendly opportunity to fiddle around with folk music (no fiddles necessary).”

“This isn’t so much a concert, but rather one big music activity,” Potter said. “Kids can grab shakers to shake along to the music, while parents get a chance to catch their breath, hang out in the back, and enjoy a cup of coffee.”

Along with the singing, percussive instruments, and holiday cheer, a certain big man with a long, white beard will be making an appearance.

“There may be a visit by a guy in a big red suit,” Potter said. “He will have a lot of cool gifts with him I’m sure.”

The Holiday Singing with Carrie Quisenberry is set to take place December 9^th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. at the MSU Community School of Music located at 430 S. Hagadorn Road in East Lansing.
