Record crowds are expected for tonight's homecoming game against the DeWitt Panthers. Why is this game such a big deal? ELi's Lucas Walters has the scoop.

This Friday, September 21 is East Lansing's Homecoming game. The Trojan marching band has a big show planned, including some "darkness" and some old favorites. ELi's Somer Sodeman reports.

Construction of the new Glencairn and Donley elementary buildings is well underway. ELi's Karessa Wheeler reports on why the District's Finance Director is not "overly concerned" about cost overruns.

“It was amazing,” Hosey said, “Coach Javy (Javier Lara), Coach G (Gianni Feraco) and Coach Feraco are always telling me to work harder in practice, so when my number was called I’d be ready...". ELi's Mark Meyer reports on Friday night's victory over Portage Northern.

“There comes a point in every season when you look to those who maybe haven’t played as much to rise up and answer the call,” Feraco said during Thursday’s practice. “This will be one of those weeks where next man up gets his number called.” ELi's Mark Meyer previews tonight's game.

“It went back and forth, and it was a heckuva ballgame,” said Grand Ledge coach Matt Bird. “Give them (East Lansing) credit, they made the play at the end to win.” ELi's Mark Meyer reports.

Tonight the East Lansing Trojans take on longstanding rivals from Grand Ledge. ELi's Mark Meyer has the story.

Nikki Norris has taken over the head sports position in East Lansing following the retirement of long-time Athletic Director Tom Hunt, Alex Hosey, a recent graduate of ELi's Summer Youth Journalism Program, reports.

“We have a lot of chemistry on defense, we’ve been playing together since seventh grade. And we’re a pretty athletic bunch,” says senior linebacker Justin Brown. ELi's Mark Meyer tells you how that chemistry turned into a "W."

The East Lansing Board of Education approved a one-year contract with FiberLink, Inc. for fiber infrastructure maintenance in an amount not to exceed $45,000, allowing ELPS to receive internet service through an ISD consortium. As the academic year begins, ELPD Detective Nicole Mitchell is beginning a new job as Resource Officer at the high school, replacing Detective Steve Whelan. ELi's Casandra Eriksen reports.

This year's Whitehills Annual Fun Run was the biggest ever, and garnered thousands of dollars to fund fieldtrips, festivals, and other events for Whitehills Elementary. ELi's Charlie Meyers reports.

“I really hope that parents do think about journalism programs in high schools that they send their kids to as viable options so that kids don’t have to just be band kids, or sports kids, or orchestra kids… they can also be journalism kids.” ELi Summer Youth Journalism Program participant Noa Kuszai reports.
