Last Friday, members of the East Lansing Clergy Association, an interfaith organization, met at The Islamic Center of East Lansing to show support for and solidarity with their Muslim neighbors.

The clergy presented a Resolution entitled “A Resolution Affirming the Shared Values and Intentions of the Interfaith Community of East Lansing, MI” to Imam Sohail Chaudhry of the Islamic Center. The Resolution, which was drafted by Reverend Margie Osborn of Eastminister Presbyterian Church, and signed by members of the East Lansing Clergy Association, states the following:

The Rally to Condemn Hate Speech took place last night, and the turnout was loud and large. The median on Grand River Avenue off of Abbot Road was filled to the brim with protestors uniting to condemn the statements made by those who refuse to accept refugees into the United States.

Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday which began on the evening of December 6^th and goes through the evening of December 14^th this year. Hanukkah usually coincides with the busy time of the end of the fall semester, making it difficult for students to celebrate with their families.

The East Lansing Area Clergy Association will be hosting their annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at The Peoples Church of East Lansing Monday, November 23, 2015, at 7:00PM with a reception to follow after the service.

Eva Mozes Kor

This Tuesday, June 9^th, Eva Mozes Kor, Holocaust survivor and author of Surviving the Angel of Death and Echoes from Auschwitz, will be giving a talk at Shaarey Zedek synagogue in East Lansing.

Eva is widely known for her efforts to educate the world about The Holocaust and her advocacy for forgiveness as a healing method. She has been featured in the documentary “Forgiving Dr. Mengele," and in the more recent CNN production “Voices of Auschwitz.”

Cafeteria, or “Caf” Theology offers a unique opportunity for college-aged adults and students to gather and talk about faith among their peers, and to build community over food. The weekly gatherings of students in Akers Dining Hall on Michigan State University’s campus and at Lansing Community College attract both believers and skeptics interested in exploring issues of spirituality, morality, and life.

Pending the successful resolution of several approvals and other legal matters, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lansing (UUCGL) will move to a new space in South Lansing in early 2016. Assuming that likely outcome, the church—which moved to its current facility (a former fraternity house) at 855 Grove Street across from the East Lansing Public Library in 1971—will relocate to the former Capital Area Academy building at 5509 S. Pennsylvania once all renovations are completed in approximately twelve months.
