On May 5, East Lansing voters will decide whether to vote to change the City Charter’s rule on the sale of public lands. As ELi has reported, the most important effect of this would be to lower the voter approval threshold for the sale of public lands. Public lands, including parks, now require a 60% voter approval over a specified minimum dollar value.

Cafeteria, or “Caf” Theology offers a unique opportunity for college-aged adults and students to gather and talk about faith among their peers, and to build community over food. The weekly gatherings of students in Akers Dining Hall on Michigan State University’s campus and at Lansing Community College attract both believers and skeptics interested in exploring issues of spirituality, morality, and life.

East Lansing Teacher Named MSBOA Orchestra Teacher of the Year

David Rosin, the orchestra teacher for MacDonald Middle School and East Lansing High School, has been named Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Teacher of the Year for 2015. Rosin’s award will be presented on May 21 at the ELHS orchestra concert. The East Lansing Band and Orchestra Parent Association (ELBOPA) will host a reception for Rosin following the concert and presentation.

Altmann Announces Candidacy for City Council

Bailey resident and MSU Psychology professor Erik Altmann has announced he is running for East Lansing City Council. The election will be November 3 and three seats will be up for grabs: those currently held by Mayor Nathan Triplett, Mayor Pro Tem Diane Goddeeris, and Councilmember Kathy Boyle. Councilmembers serve for four-year terms.
