Parks Millage Looks Unlikely to Be on November Ballot

As a key Parks millage is due to expire later this year, East Lansing’s City Council held a tense conversation about whether the upcoming November election is the right time to try to get East Lansing voters to renew that millage. ELi's Alice Dreger reports.

East Lansing Interfaith Community Meets to Show Support for Muslim Neighbors

Last Friday, members of the East Lansing Clergy Association, an interfaith organization, met at The Islamic Center of East Lansing to show support for and solidarity with their Muslim neighbors.

The clergy presented a Resolution entitled “A Resolution Affirming the Shared Values and Intentions of the Interfaith Community of East Lansing, MI” to Imam Sohail Chaudhry of the Islamic Center. The Resolution, which was drafted by Reverend Margie Osborn of Eastminister Presbyterian Church, and signed by members of the East Lansing Clergy Association, states the following:

Iorio's Gelato and Caffe to Open in Trowbridge Lofts

On November 9, Iorio’s Gelato and Caffe will be opening up in the Trowbridge Lofts.

According to the owner, Nick Lemmer, his family is from the area and that was one of the reasons that he decided to open his business in East Lansing. Lemmer also said that they have a shop in Ann Arbor and wanted to take the opportunity to expand further, especially because they have been given so much support for their idea.

Ever wonder about those big numbers posted in a window in that tall building on the east side of Farm Lane, across from the entrance to the MSU Dairy Store?

Right now, the digits read 63000. That’s the number of generations in an experiment that’s been running in my lab for over a quarter century.
