Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Steve Ross has announced his candidacy for East Lansing City Council. The election will be November 3 and three seats will be up for grabs: those currently held by Mayor Nathan Triplett, Mayor Pro Tem Diane Goddeeris, and Councilmember Kathy Boyle. Councilmembers serve for four-year terms.

In a recent interview, Ross told me that as an MSU student, his concept of East Lansing was campus and a small stretch of restaurants and bars on Grand River Avenue. Today, as a year-round resident, professional and soon-to-be father, he said his worldview has dramatically expanded.

As Publisher of ELi, I am retracting four articles by Erik Altmann, including one article on the land sale charter amendment and three Council Capsules done by Altmann for ELi while I was unable to attend Council due to family issues.

As publisher of ELi and President of ELi’s Board, I would not allow someone running for Council or sitting on Council to do political reporting for us. But as it turns out, that’s what happened here.
