Volunteers Needed for EL Public Skating Rink

The City of East Lansing is seeking volunteers to help with the pop up skating rink to be installed this February in Valley Court Park. The rink is expected to be open for two weeks, from February 11 through February 25, and will be free and open to the public between the hours of 3-9pm as long as the weather allows. This weekend, the East Lansing Dance and Theatre Company (ELDTC) will perform “AFTER EVER AFTER, or Four Beautiful Princesses, a Bunch of Sidekicks and One Evil Villain: A Ballet in One Act” at the Hannah Community Center Albert White Theatre.

Today, a letter sent home by East Lansing Public School’s superintendent Robyne Thompson is contributing to local concern. The holiday sale is where 3rd grade Girl Scouts are selling homemade crafts for under $4! It will happen on Tuesday the 15th after school until 7:00PM and it will also be happening on Wednesday the 16th at 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and the last day is Thursday the 17th  at 8:00AM to 8:45AM.

Downtown Art Projects Reach Fundraising Goal

The East Lansing Artist Alleys crowdfunding campaign, which officially ends at 11:59 PM tonight, has reached its $45,000 fundraising goal.

The goal was met Tuesday, November 10, two days ahead of schedule. As of this writing, $46,785 has been raised from 118 supporters. Donations came from local individuals, organizations, and businesses.

Families are invited to visit Safe Halloween from 5pm- 7pm on Thursday, Oct. 29. The event will take place on M.A.C. Avenue between Elizabeth and Burcham, and the area will be closed to traffic.

During October and early November, there are exceptionally beautiful gatherings of planets in the morning sky. A waning crescent Moon graces the lineup of planets on Oct. 8-11 and Nov. 6-7. Except as noted, these spectacular sights through Nov. 10 will be well seen about an hour before sunrise.
