Business Group Launches Attack on Candidate Altmann

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce has launched an attack ad on City Council candidate Erik Altmann, declaring Altmann “wrong for East Lansing.”

Iorio's Gelato and Caffe to Open in Trowbridge Lofts

On November 9, Iorio’s Gelato and Caffe will be opening up in the Trowbridge Lofts.

According to the owner, Nick Lemmer, his family is from the area and that was one of the reasons that he decided to open his business in East Lansing. Lemmer also said that they have a shop in Ann Arbor and wanted to take the opportunity to expand further, especially because they have been given so much support for their idea.

The sugar beet harvest has arrived in Michigan just to the north and east of East Lansing. Driving by the areas where the beets are farmed, you can see huge piles of the beets piled in trucks and on staging pads across the region. The beets look like big, cream-colored turnips. One pile I drove by in Sebewaing two weeks ago was about 15-feet high, two lanes wide, and as long as a football field. (See below.)

This weekend, discover artist-eye views of Mother Nature that exist far closer to home than you might imagine.

Artist Lou Heiser will take viewers on a journey through the beautiful landscapes of Michigan with his collection of oil paintings entitled “Vistas of Michigan.” The exhibition will be opening this Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 1 to 4pm at Saper Galleries in downtown East Lansing. It is free and open to the public.
