With One Day Left in Campaign, Donations to ELi Spike Up

With tomorrow at midnight marking the end of ELi’s 2018 Sustainability Campaign, donations spiked up over the last 24 hours. We’ve now raised $64,680 in pledges and donations towards our public service reporting for 2018.

ELi readers who have never donated before are stepping up to donate during our New Donor Match, in which a group of core ELi supporters are matching dollar-for-dollar the pledges and donations of people who have never before donated to ELi. We’ve now raised over $8,000 through that offer!

There’s about $2,000 remaining in the match, so that could bring us $4,000 if more new donors step up now.

The bump up includes a new East Lansing corporate sponsorship which we will be excited to tell you about in the next few days. It’s a name you will likely recognize, just as many of our readers recognize the name of our ongoing corporate sponsor, LightSpeed, East Lansing-based high-speed internet service provider. The new sponsorship will specifically be funding production of our weekly newsletter.

ELi is a nonprofit, nonpartisan news source specifically dedicated to the people of East Lansing. We cover news no one else does, making it possible for people who live and work here to stay informed, remain engaged, and learn of important (and fun!) opportunities about which they’d never otherwise hear.

On a shoestring budget, we take requests from readers to find out answers to their questions. We do investigative reporting on City government. We cover local elections, including digging into campaign contributions and fact-checking political mailers.
